So, the short answer is that acetate sunglasses are a plant-based synthetic material while plastic sunglasses are not. Acetate is often considered more durable and flexible than other plastics commonly used for sunglasses, too.

How do you clean acetate sunglasses?

The good news is that cleaning acetate sunglasses is no different from cleaning any pair of sunglasses. Start by rinsing the frames under lukewarm water. Some heat will help get rid of smudges and debris, but if you go too hot, you could damage the sunglasses.
From there, put a drop of dishwashing liquid on each lens. Scrub the soap over the lenses and frames with a finger and then re-rinse your glasses. The final step is to dry your sunglasses with a microfiber cloth or towel.
